Juliet was only 13 when she left school. Her family couldn’t afford school fees, and as the eldest daughter, she stayed home to help care for her younger siblings. With no support and no options, her future felt uncertain.
That changed when one of Yamba Hearts for Uganda’s community volunteers visited her village and recommended her for our Child Sponsorship Program. Juliet received school fees, scholastic materials, and a mentor who walked with her through the challenges of returning to class.
Today, she’s in Senior Three and dreams of becoming a nurse. On weekends, she mentors two younger girls at her school who are also part of our program.
“If Yamba Heart hadn’t stepped in, I’d probably be married off by now,” she says. “Now I want to help others like you helped me.”
Juliet’s story reminds us that when you educate a girl, you empower a community.
